Wild Goat ("Cabri") bronze sculpture

What comes to mind when you think of the Caribbean? Warm sand and sea turtles? Long walks on the beach, breathtaking turquoise water…tiny umbrellas?

For me, it's goats!

During my first trip to the French West Indies in 1998, it was thrilling to swim over sea turtles and stingrays. But I was especially enchanted by the hilarious plucky goats I saw frolicking atop rocky hills in the distance as I swam laps below.

At once boney and chubby, Cabri (aka wild goats) are an ideal subject for abstraction. St-Barth Cabri, my newest (and second) goat sculpture is a loving tribute to these intrepid ungulates; a nod to the undaunted spirit of their human neighbors—many whom I’ve known for twenty years—on the tiny French island of St-Barthélemy, tirelessly rebuilding after unprecedented damage from this year's hurricanes.

St-Barth Cabri is a limited edition (5) bronze sculpture that stands approx. 12" tall. All bronze goats are created, hand signed and numbered by sculptor Dave Stevenson

Here is a shot I snapped of a very young "Cabri" about five years ago, snuggled up in a shallow cave in the hills between Saline & Gouverneur Beach.

Note: Please allow approx. 3-4 months for delivery of your sculpture after ordering. Bronze casting is a fascinating, ancient process--but even with many modern improvements to production methods--it still takes a tremendous amount of care and labor to complete a single sculpture. Your patience is appreciated.
