“Want Acrobat to come to TriBeCa to play? Tumble into the Gift Shop or Donate today.”
The Zooner the Better Acrobat will be my first monumental, public bronze, a goal I have been working towards for two decades. However, Art in the Parks requires its exhibitions to be privately funded, so Acrobat will materialize next June only if I raise the money for it in time. How close am I? My project is half way towards completion; I have paid for the 3D scan of the original maquette, the digital enlargement, the foam prototype and its molds. But I am well short of the $25,000.00 budgeted to cover final casting, engineering, finishing, site-prep and installation.
To-Zoo List To encourage participation in bringing this massive sculpture to life, I have curated a rotating collection of specially priced artwork and jewelry from my vast Artinjection portfolio and placed it inside the Gift Shop of my new website, sculpturezoo. This week’s highlights include: a wearable Acrobat created through the magic of 3D printing; & Bunnydog, a hilarious, tiny bronze sculpture that tops out at 3 inches.
Zoo Nation A public art project of this scale (& location) will set the trajectory for the second half of my career, helping establish me as both a large scale sculptor and a public artist. Completing The Acrobat Project will make me a more competitive sculptor, qualifying me for advanced professional opportunities for public art projects and collaborations with notable architects and museums. The exhibit inside Finn Park in TriBeCa will last one year, after which I intend to launch Acrobat on a leisurely tour of public gardens and campuses around the country. Let’s go to The Zoo!
